Ambiguous’ is a collection which is focused on research into future materials through scientific and sustainable concepts and methods. Questions around materiality is at the heart of this work, testing the notion of ‘preciousness.’ This conceptual jewellery is influenced by geological and natural forces which is expressed through a tactile method of making. It incorporates ideas of metamorphosis and transformation using a home-grown organic material which is manipulated, fold formed and cast into precious metals.
Using the body as a template for this work adds a dynamic edge; the sense of touch is key, not just in wearing it, but in its formation. This has led to an investigation of the boundaries and ambiguities that surround the aesthetics of organic and man made jewellery.
We have more work by this designer, including one-off pieces, available exclusively through our quaint Barbican Gallery in Plymouth.
