Olive Rose
Taunton-based Jeweller and Gallery owner Emma Trott graduated from Middlesex University in 2008 with a First Class BA Hons in Jewellery. She launched her brand Olive Rose in 2015, inspired by her daughters’ middle names.
Using the Victorian lace craft of ‘Tatting’ Emma creates tightly knotted lace flutters which she then uses to adorn her hand formed silver and gold jewellery. This intricate textile process involves using a hand shuttle, knotting threads in particular ways, to form loops. She stays true to the original technique, yet her designs have a contemporary feel.
In this latest collection ‘Occhi’ (from the German translation for Tatting) Emma has the lace flutters cast in solid silver and gold and sets them alongside precious and semi-precious stones. These cast elements have all the details of the original lace pieces immortalised forever in metal.
Each design grows and develops through making, the threads themselves and colour are her inspiration.
We have more work by this designer, including one-off pieces, available exclusively through our quaint Barbican Gallery in Plymouth.
