This 10-week course is designed for absolute beginners who wish to learn the basics of jewellery making with a view to make their own or continue onto one of our advanced courses, where many students over the years have gone on to set up their own businesses in jewellery making.
We start with 7 weeks of demonstrations into the basics of jewellery making, including how to get a design onto metal, drill, saw piercing, file, silver solder, add texture, forming, stone setting, enameling, and finishing techniques.
During which time you will practice these skills by making a stacking ring or a pendant to include all or some of these skills. With all of the beautiful designs from established jewellers on display in the gallery below, you will be constantly given examples of what you have learned or are being taught putting learning into context. We shall constantly re-cap at every stage.
You will be guided all the way and encouraged to develop your own style in design, to then spend the last 3wks on a personal project where you can create a piece of your choice and further your skills. You can expect to finish the course with at least 3 pieces of jewellery.
Health and safety are covered on day one and each student shall be emailed a week or so before the course start date to give a reminder and further details about the course.
Please feel free to call Victoria to discuss the course on 01752 220011
