We are very excited to introduce Nicola White, a new Cornish artist from the Rame Peninsula to the Victoria Sewart gallery, who will be taking over the whole of the gallery walls to exhibit her fantastic artworks during 2020 for the Mayflower 400 anniversary celebrations taking place across Plymouth. Nicola’s artwork is beautifully illustrative and colourful with scenes of the Mayflower setting sail from Plymouth. Illustrations of famous landmarks such as the Barbican, the Hoe, Smeaton’s Tower, and many other local attractions across Devon and Cornwall are depicted in original paintings both framed and unframed, affordable prints, and gift cards.
Nicola uses a colourful palette often with repeated motifs, flowers, lighthouses, and the sea. Characters appear in her paintings from observations in her daily life. The richness and diversity of individual personalities compel Nicola to include them in her paintings as well as imagined ones that also feature heavily in her work. All of these influences make her smile and we hope that they will do the same for you!
